Be warned, FG not selling land in FESTAC – agency

The government has warned land buyers against the activities of fraudulent persons advertising to sell land in FESTAC Town, Lagos.

Kenneth Chigelu, spokesperson for the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) raised the alarm in a statement he issued on Thursday.

“Our attention has been drawn to the activities of unscrupulous persons claiming to be agents of the FHA for the sale of land in FESTAC Town,” said the FHA official.

“Those putting up such advertisements are mere impostors.

“Members of the public are warned not to do business with these impostors. The said advertisement is a scam,” warned the FHA official.

Chigelu also urged the public to deal directly with the authority’s managing director or zonal managers when making land transactions.

“Meanwhile, the areas being advertised by fraudsters in FESTAC Town are not even for sale.

“We don’t relate with the public through agents in any way,” explained Mr Chigelu.

“Anyone who deals with the impostors does so at their own risks.”

Festac Town, located along Lagos-Badagry Expressway, derived its name from the acronym from the event – Festival of Arts and Culture – held in 1977.

Formerly known as “Festival Town” or “Festac Village”, Festac Town is a residential estate originally designed to house the participants to the 1977 event
