Police arrest man for murder, two others for stealing fish

The police, in Lagos State, have arrested a 20-year old-man, identified only as Mike, for allegedly stabbing his fellow worker to death during a brawl.

The incident happened at a car wash, located in the Abesan Estate area, in the Ipaja axis of the state.

A witness said Mike stabbed the deceased, called Joshua in the neck, leading to excessive bleeding and ultimately his death.

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the police command, said the suspect was under interrogation.

In another development, two men arrested for stealing 8,383 fish, worth N2.5 million, have been arraigned before an Ijede magistrates’ court in Ikorodu area of the state.

According to the police, the duo of Augustine Fred (39) and Nwite Monday (36) were arraigned for conspiracy, breach of peace, and theft.

The prosecutor, Insp Aminu Isaac, said the defendants committed the offence in December, 2021 at No 1 Babakekere Close, Igbodu area of Ijede in Ikorodu.

The prosecutor also said the stolen consumables belonged to one Mr. Awolaru Olukorede.

“They conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by disobeying the lawful order given to them by constituted authority in their place of work.”

The Magistrate, G.O. Anifowoshe, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case to May 19.
