Day-old infant stolen in Ondo, found in Sagamu

A day-old baby stolen in Okitipupa in Ondo state has been found in Sagamu, the police said.

The Ondo state police command said it arrested a woman, identified as Funmilayo Mogbojuri, for the theft.

According to the report, the baby’s mother was taking a bath, when the suspect stole her child.

The police said they finally tracked Mogbojuri to Sagamu, in Ogun state, where she was arrested.

The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime. She is also said to have confessed stealing another baby in January 2021, who unfortunately died.

The police revealed that the suspect’s modus operandi was to approach her victim, begging for a chance to pass the night, only to abscond with her host’s baby the next day.

“Parents, be careful who you leave your child/ren with and be vigilant,” the police said.
