PDP suspends chairman for insulting ‘leader’

The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has suspended its chairman, Okey Asolo for insulting one of its leaders, Chris Uba.

Obinna Obialor and Obinna Obichinyere, both chairman and secretary of the party respectively in ward 13 Onitsha North, signed the letter of suspension.

The letter reads: “The suspension of Okey Asolo is anchored on the provisions of Article 58 (1) and 59 (1) and (2) of the PDP Constitution 2017 as amended.”

“The suspension was upheld by the Onitsha North LGA chapter of the party, which met on Monday in a communiqué signed by Messrs Alex Anah and Chigbo Onyia, chairman and secretary of the party in area, respectively.”

Also, the executive of the party at the local government to which Asolo belongs has upheld his suspension.

“We upheld the said suspension and equally suspend him from the Onitsha North Local Government Area PDP of Anambra State,” the council leadership of the party stated.

Asolo had signed off a letter last week suspending Uba and Chief Linus Ukachukwu for alleged anti-party activities.

His suspension on Tuesday appears to be the direct consequence of his action and ongoing crisis in the state chapter of the party.
