OPC ‘readies battle’ against herdsmen attack

Yoruba nationalist group, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Oyo State chapter, says it has readied itself against possible attack from Fulani herdsmen.

Rotimi Olumo, OPC coordinator in the state, stated this at a news conference on Saturday.

According to DailyPost, Oluomo also faulted the visit of Ahmad Gumi, a northern Islamic cleric, to Igboho –a town in Oyo State, where Yoruba nation activist Sunday Igboho hails from.

Olumo called Gumi’s visit to the place an affront. He also said the comments Gumi and those with whom he visited the town aimed at ridiculing Igboho.

The report said Oluomo also accused Gumi of being a spy for bandits, warning the OPC would push back against any attack.

“We are battle-ready to resist them. Yoruba land is our fatherland. Oyo OPC is fully ready to resist them.”
