NNPCL gives reason for resurgence of queues at filling stations

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) says road blockades in some parts of the country slowed down supplies from southern to northern depots. He said it is the reason for queues at some filling stations as oil truck drivers.

“It takes (oil truck drivers) them a much longer time (to deliver supplies) than they do now,” Kyari said.

He said the situation “created delays and some supply gaps.” Kyari also cited “the full deregulation” of the oil sector,” adding “marketers are now competing amongst themselves.” He explained the competition has engendered price variations, leading to many buyers thronging stations selling at cheaper prices.

“Customers will naturally run to the places” petrol is sold at reduced price “and that creates panic,” he said.

Kyari equally said that the government was working to make foreign exchange available for marketers.

“We know that this FX markets will stabilize current I&E window around 770. And we know that those inputs that’s already happening, the inputs of government today will crystallize and also they will come to an equilibrium position in the FX market and this is a dream of this country,” he stated.
