Nigerian government mute over ‘arrest’ of fleeing Binance’s Nadeem Anjarwalla

The Nigerian Government has not officially responded to the purported arrest of Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, by the Kenyan Police.

Anjarwalla is believed to have fled to Kenya following his escape while under a house arrest by the Office of the National Security Adviser. The news of his arrest by the Kenyan Police authorities and the International Police, INTERPOL, broke on Sunday.

The NSA had told the public, at the time of Anjarwalla’s escape, that he fled after being allowed to visit the mosque for prayers, in the spirit of Ramadan.

Anjarwalla and another leader of the Binance, a forex trading platform, are being accused of manipulating Nigeria’s currency, Naira, against the dollar.

The development had caused the Naira to depreciate gravely against foreign currencies, particularly the dollar, pounds Sterling, and Euro.

Anjarwalla is expected to be extradited to Nigeria to face trial for tax evasion, in the suit filed by the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.
