NGF, CBN hold parley on naira design, cash withdrawal
The Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) has scheduled talks with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on its recent policies. The Bank had newly introduced redesigned bank notes and fixed specific limits for individual and corporate cash withdrawals, a development that generated a backlash.
Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, the spokesperson for the NGF, said this in a statement Tuesday night. The meeting between the Bank and the governors is holding virtually at 9pm on Thursday.
“For the virtual meeting, the agenda is titled: ‘The Economic and Security implications of naira redesign and withdrawal policy,’ and it has lingered for some time now.
“The discussion promises to foster participation and dialogue between various stakeholders including governments and civil society organizations to come out with a solution to the lingering issue.
