  Many killed in Plateau gun attack

At least, nine persons were reportedly killed by gunmen who Tuesday attacked the Maikatako community of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The assailants allegedly torched some properties during the onslaught.

John Bature, a resident, said in a report that sporadic shooting heralded the entry of the invaders at about 9.30pm.

“Many of our people have already retired to their beds when some persons carrying guns entered the community and started shooting around 9:30 pm. Many people who tried to run were shot,” Bature claimed.

He also confirmed the death toll and the arson carried out by the gunmen.

Captain Oya James, the spokesperson for the Military Taskforce reportedly confirmed the attack and that the operatives had restored normalcy.

“It was around 11 pm on Tuesday that somebody alerted us of an ongoing attack in a community along Bokkos road. We quickly deployed our men and the intervention was very helpful in stopping the attackers in their mission,” James was quoted as saying.
