South Africa arrests Boko Haram member over spate of robberiesÂ
A suspected Boko Haram gang member has been arrested after allegedly being linked to three business robbery cases in Pretoria.
The gang took its name from the Jihadist terrorist organisation (Boko Haram) operating in Nigeria and other west African countries.
According to local media, the alleged robber has allegedly been involved in a spate of robberies, as well as extortion, intimidation and other serious and violent crimes in Mamelodi and surrounding areas.
The man was arrested after police tracked him to Denneboom Station.
“The 38-year-old suspect from Silverton has been linked to three business robbery cases, which took place in January 2020, and another two in November of 2021,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili.
The police said the suspect would appear in the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in Nigeria, the Boko Haram terrorist group is unrelenting in its murderous campaign to set up a Jihadist caliphate.
Although Boko Haram attacks appear to have reduced compared to a few years ago, the Islamic extremist group remains a potent threat in Nigeria with claims it is occupying specific territories in the far north.
A Boko Haram splinter group is aligned with the Islamic State for West African Province, ISWAP, a brutal terrorist organisation.

There is a concern within Nigeria’s security circles that terrorist groups might have aligned with dare-devil bandits, who continue to carry out mass murders, pillaging, and kidnapping for ransom, among other violent crimes.
The presidency recently said terrorists and bandits are jointly behind the killing and kidnapping of train passengers in Kaduna State recently.
