MACBAN accuses state’s security outfit of killing 15 in Plateau

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Plateau state has accused state-sponsored security outfit –Operation Rainbow of killing 15 villagers and destroying 78 houses after they invaded some communities in Mangu Local Government Area of the state. But the security outfit denied carrying out the pogrom.

Nuru Abdullahi, MACBAN’s Plateau chapter chairman, addressed the press in Jos on Sunday, saying the pogrom was already spreading to other local government areas inhabited by the Fulani ethnic stock.

Abdullahi said he got “an intelligence report” that “trained militias recruited and brought to fight and chase all Fulani out of Plateau State” are behind the attack. He urged the federal government to take “immediate action before things go out of hand.”

“We will not continue watching people killing us and destroying our properties,” Abdullahi warned. A report claimed that over 200 people have been killed in the Mangu LGA in the past few months. As a result of the crisis, the state government had announced it is imposing 24-hour curfew on Mangu LGA .
