Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, the ceremonial ruler of Orile Ifo in Ogun State, has been charged for conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to breach the peace of his community.
Ogunjobi’s ordeal began when a video of him maltreating a man surfaced on social media. In the video, Ogunjobi boasted that he owned and had control over Nigeria Police Force. In a developing story, the Nigeria Police on Tuesday announced that it had filed a three-count charge against Ogunjobi.
“He (Ogunjobi) was granted bail while the case was adjourned to 06/03/2025.
“The police will continue to uphold the rule of law and the core values of the noble profession,” the police said.
This comes as the Ogun State Government revealed that it had suspended Ogunjobi for six months over his uncivil conduct.
“After the investigation conducted on the matter, the Kabiyesi has been suspended and stripped of the paraphernalia of the stool of Olorile-Ifo pending the determination of his culpability or otherwise on the allegation,” Kayode Akinmade, special adviser on communication to Governor Dapo Abiodun said.
Cornet News reports that Ogunjobi was caught on tape assaulting his 73-year old victim, Areola Abraham, for not supporting him in Chieftaincy tussle.
