I supported zoning in the past, but not again – Atiku
Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president says he supported zoning in time past, but no longer sees the need for it.
Atiku during a meeting with his support group, Let’s Fix Nigeria with Atiku, recalled his discussion with former vice president Alex Ekwueme on power rotation.
The presidential aspirant said he supported power sharing then because of his view of Nigeria “as a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country”,
“We felt that there should be a sense of belonging. We went and invented this zoning.
“Therefore, we went further to say there should be zonal representation.
“So, let me assure you that as far as I am concerned, I will observe and implement whatever will bring about the peace and stability of this country.
Atiku stated that zoning political power is alien to the country’s constitution.
