I didn’t bathe for three days because of Obaseki – Wike
Nyesome Wike, governor of Rivers State, in Nigeria’s South-south region, has revealed he did not take a bathe for three days while working to see that Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, won a second term vote.
Wike and Obaseki clashed over the former’s deprecatory comment against Edo deputy governor, Phillip Shaiub.
Wike had accused Shaiub of denigrating the Peoples Democratic Party, which he said offered its ticket to him and Obaseki when they were pushed out of their former party, the All Progressives Congress.
Obaseki didn’t take kindly to Wike’s diatribe and, in a long statement, warned him to stop bullying his deputy.
He reminded Wike of Shaiub’s background as a former students union leader and said his comment was consistent with his activism. He also told Wike that the PDP was not his personal property.
In his riposte, Wike called the Edo governor a “serial betrayer” who they were warned of his antics early on. He then offered an apology to Adams Oshiomhole, Obaseki’s predecessor with whom he fell out.
“I am not in the class of Obaseki, never! We are not the same, we can’t be the same”, said Wike.
“I was the DG of his campaign, I went there (to Edo) for three days. I stayed there without having my bath. I have never seen somebody like that in my life – a serial betrayer.
“Let me tell you Obaseki, I know your cohorts and I will smoke all of you out.
“This is not the Benin artefact that you were challenging the Oba (of Benin), this is politics.
“Obaseki, I have more stake in PDP than you. I have fought for this party, mention one thing that you have done for the PDP.”
