House of reps probes JAMB

The House of Representativeson Wednesday launched a probe into the activities of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The probe included agenda listed on the house of reps., order paper for July 12.

A case involving a candidate Mmesoma Ejike, who fraudulently inflated her score had spotlighted JAMB recently. While the 19-year-old Mmesoma falsely claimed to have scored 360, the examination body provided contradictory evidence showing she actually got 249 in the exam.

The issue assumed an ethnic hue as many natives including notable citizens from Mmesoma’s southeast region backed her claim against JAMB.

The situation forced the Anamnbra state government to set up a commission of inquiry, which exposed Mmesoma’s fraud. While the controversy raged, the house of reps., urged JAMB not to take any action and, instead, should allow the parliament investigate the matter.
