Harassing armed policeman ‘suicide’ mission –Adejobi, FPPRO

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the national spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, has warned citizen against haranguing a police officer in uniform, especially where he is carrying a weapon.

He gave the admonition, based on a video he posted to twitter of an aggrieved citizen pulling an armed police officer forcefully by his trousers.  It appeared other police officers at the scene mae the video apparently to serve as evidence.

Adejobi tweeted, “We condemn this act in totality. Whatever that must have transpired between them, the man ought not to have assaulted and embarrassed a police officer, on uniform, this way.

“It’s a disgrace to our country and the constituted authority; and he ( the aggrieved citizen) must face the music.

“That is what we call “Suicide by Police” many want to die, but want to connect their deaths to police action. The policeman was just been careful bc (because) of social media post, if not he would have reacted in an unprofessional way.”
