How we discovered hard drugs imported from India, Pakistan – Customs

The Nigeria Customs said it discovered drugs imported into the country from India and Pakistan during a check at the the Skyway Aviation Handling Company, located at the cargo section of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Customs Area Controller, Sambo Dangaladima, told journalists on Tuesday that the seized drugs comprised 162 cartons of Tramadol hydrochloride 225 and 250mg, military, and police hardware.

Dangaladim said the estimated duty paid on the illicit goods was N13.8bn. On the other hand, the police and military equipment composed of helmets, jackets, ballistic body armoured pada and police badges.

The NCS boss said the importers of the seized items might have sinister intentions to comprise the general elections.

“We are very mindful of the fact that 2023 is an election year in Nigeria; the inflow of traffic of these hard drugs that induce our youths to do extraordinary things (when taken) are bound to increase,” he said.
