‘Eiye confraternity’ member lands in prison

A magistrate’s court has remanded a man, Solomon Aboyarin, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for involving himself in an unlawful society, identified as Eiye confraternity.

The police prosecutor, Felicia Okwori, had told the court that Aboyarin committed the offence on or before March 29, 2023.

She claimed a knife, one English pistol with one round of live ammunition and one locally-made single-barrel pistol were found on him upon arrest at Okito, in the Ajegunle area of Lagos.

Subsequent upon the prosecution’s claim, Magistrate H. B Mogaji gave the order.

TheCornet reports that the Lagos house of assembly had promulgated a law prohibiting cultism in the state. The law says enablers and anyone who joins cultism are liable to 15 to 21 years imprisonment. Equally, cultists involved in disturbances using dangerous weapons are liable to life imprisonment.
