Out of prison, Dariye seeks senatorial ticket
Senator Joshua Dariye, who came out of prison Tuesday, is allegedly eyeing a return to the Senate.
Dariye is seeking the Plateau Central senatorial seat on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).
President Muhammadu Buhari in April granted state pardon to Dariye and Jolly Nyame, a former governor of Taraba state, alongside 157 others.
According to Daily Trust,arrangement had been perfected for him to contest the senate seat.
The newspaper quoted an unnamed source for its story. “Yes, it is true that he (Dariye) will be running for a Senate seat. We are making arrangements for him to come from Abuja for the senatorial declaration,” the source said.
Until his release, Dariye was serving 10 years’ jail sentence for committing N1.126 billion fraud.
He had served as governor of Plateau state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He defected to the Labour Party under which he contested and won a senatorial seat in 2011.
