The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said that intelligence it gathered led to the seizure of 200,000 pills of tramadol 250mg and 217,500 capsules of pregabalin from two suspects-Abba Ibrahim, 28, and Shuaibu Umar, 29,-who ferried them in a Sienna mini-van.

The drug seizure took place on April 23 while the suspects were transporting the substances from Kano to Niger Republic. The interception led to the arrest of 41-year-old Jamilu Muhammad in Kano, who is said to be the main supplier of the drugs.

The NDLEA said it found additional 1,584,000 pills of tramadol 250mg, which Muhammed stacked in a Nissan 18-seater bus marked DAL 372 XA, as well as inside a room in his house, bringing the total seizure to 2,001,500 pills.
