Eddie Nketiah signs new contract with Arsenal

Eddie Nketiah has signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal. Nketiah has been with the club, since he was 14, and he has so far made 92 first-team appearances and scored 23 goals since he debuted in 2017. The 22-year-old scored five goals in eight matches for the Gunners last season.

Nketiah’s previous contract expires at the end of this month.

Before deciding to stay put with Arsenal, Nketiah had his interest in Crystal Palace and Borussia Monchengladbach. However, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta convinced him on staying.

“I’m delighted Eddie is staying with us,” a statement from Arteta read on the club’s website.

“He represents what we are all about and all the values of the club.

“We are very happy that he has extended his contract and now we have to get to work and continue to develop the great talent and person that we have in him.”

The icing on the cake for Nketiah is that he is getting the iconic No 14 jersey worn by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry  between 1999 and 2007.
