Bus passengers burnt to death in Lagos

Some commuters burnt to death after the bus they were traveling on caught fire, along the Iyana Oworo axis of the Lagos metropolis on Sunday.

At least seven of the passengers died in the inferno that gutted the 14-seater bus, with registration number KJA 699 GY.

Eyewitnesses alleged that trapped victims attempted escape from the burning bus, one of who succeeded but had fire on her body while running for her life.

Three survivors are said to be at the Gbagada General Hospital receiving medical treatment.

The cause of the accident has been attributed to reckless driving and over-speeding by the driver of the bus.

Emergency responders are currently at the scene, while the accident has resulted in snailing traffic along the highway.
