    Soldiers storm bank, arrest two suspected terrorists

Soldiers on counterinsurgency operations, code-named Hadarin Daji have arrested two suspected terrorists at a branch of a commercial bank, in Zaria, Kaduna state.

Musa Danmadami, the defence media operations director, said in a briefing, held at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), that the arrest took place September 15 “while (the suspects were) trying  to withdraw the sum of N14 million.”

He said one Alhaji Abubakar, a suspected terrorist financier, deposited the money.

Aside the arrest, Danmadami said troops killed 16 suspected terrorists and 10 wanted terrorists at different locations in Chikun LGA of Kaduna.

Rescued by the troops are 21 civilians while recoveries include “5 AK47 rifles, 10 rounds of 7.62mm special, 17 mobile phones, 2 motorcycles, 3 locally made rifles, 3 pairs of woodland camouflage, 118 rustled sheep, 4 boafeng radio sets and N29,250.00 cash

“The development comes less than 48 hours after the air component of operation Hadarin Daji conducted an airstrike killing a terrorist leader identified as Ibrahim Dangawo and other members of his gang in Katsina,” he said.

He also said that troops killed a wanted terrorist kingpin, known as Babaru, at Gidan Guga, in Faskari LGA, while “a large number of terrorists at Kawari axis in Dan Musa LGA, both in Katsina state, died in an aerial bombardment.
