Binani’s suit on Adamawa guber dispute struck out

Justice Iyang Ekwo of the federal high court in Abuja has struck out a motion ex parte filed by Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani asking to be declared the winner of the Adamawa governorship election.

Binani’s counsel, Mohammed Sheriff, informed the court about their decision to discontinue the case.

At the same time, Justice Ekwo reminded Sheriff that he was expected to address the on whether it had jurisdiction to entertain the motion in the first place.

TheCornet reported that Justice Ekwo had adjourned hearing after he declined Binani’s request.

Based on Binani’s request for discontinuance, Justice Ekwo dismissed the suit.

Binani, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the poll, had claimed she defeated the incumbent, Ahmadu Fintiri.

She seemed emboldened by the false declaration made by INEC’s resident electoral commissioner, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari.

But, INEC reversed the declaration and would later complete the result collation following which it announced Fintiri as the winner.

Amid the condemnation that greeted Yunusa-Ari’s action, President Muhammadu Buhari urged the police to prosecute the REC and any collaborator in the law enforcement. But, INEC said it did not know Yunusa-Ari’s whereabouts.
