Becoming president in 2023 desire of my heart – Osinbajo
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said becoming Nigeria’s president in 2023 is a “desire of his heart”.
Osinbajo said this during his visit to Edo and Delta states, according to a statement by his media aide Laolu Akande.
The vice president said his joining the presidential race is to serve, adding that“it is the desire of my heart.”
In Benin, Osinbajo met with the Oba of Benin Omo N’Oba Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II.
He was quoted to have told his audience that “we need leadership that is committed, truthful and who would make sacrifices for others. These are the types of leaders that would transform Nigeria.”
“With the cooperation of everyone who is here, we can actually do things that will transform this nation,” Osinbajo assuringly said.
In his response, Oba Ewuare II reportedly alluded to Osinbajo’s sterling credentials.
“Your Excellency, we have heard the reasons why you’re here today. We don’t have to over flog your credentials; they speak for themselves anywhere. I always admire your eloquence.”Â
“No doubt, your credentials; since you have come out to run for this great office, I think you are going to give a lot of problems to all the other contestants.Â
“There is no gainsaying that they all probably shivering where they are because of your credentials; coupled with your calmness, your humility and great respect for culture and being a true man of God, who has the fear of God in his heart” Akande quoted Oba Ewuare as saying.
The vice president on his stop in Asaba met with the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Chike Edozien.
According to the statement, “the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien, prayed for the success of Prof. Osinbajo in his desire to become the next President of Nigeria.”
