Atiku attacks Tinubu again

Abubakar Atiku, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 2023 election, has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking through his media aide Paul Ibe, Atiku said he deposed to an affidavit stating his change of name in 1973.

Atiku’s school leaving record had surfaced on the social media but bearing a strange name Sadiq Abubakar. Based on the discovery, supporters of President Bola Tinubu accused Atiku of forging his academic records.

In addition to the initial defence by Atiku’s political campaign aide Dele Momodu, Ibe said Tinubu was fixated on the controversy to distract attention from his own forgery allegation.

Ibe, said, “Former Vice President reverting to Atiku Abubakar from Siddiq Abubakar is well documented in an affidavit dated 18th of August 1973, spanning over a period of 50 years, (which incidentally is as old as the commenceThe ment of Tinubu’s life of forgeries and lies), is in the public domain.”

He added, “The attempt by Bola Tinubu to drag Atiku Abubakar into his drowning arena of forgery must be seen for what it is: an attempt to minimise the allegations of forgeries that he has to contend with.”

Atiku recently filed a lawsuit in the United States to demand Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University. After its initial refusal, the university consented to releasing the records following a court ruling.

The records showed discrepancies in birth records and sundry others. Based on copies of the diploma CSU released, Atiku claims President Tinubu had forged the copy he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Atiku hopes to tender the discovery at the Supreme Court currently hearing the election dispute.

However, President Tinubu insists the academic records are inadmissible because it is not among the evidence Atiku already placed before the court.

The President urged the apex court to dismiss the suit and affirm his electoral victory, as declared by INEC and, recently, the Court of Appeal.
