Appeal Court declares Natasha Akpoti winner of Kogi Central senatorial district poll

The Court of Appeal has declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial District election, held in February 2023.

Natasha, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party, defeated Abubakar Ohere of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The appellate court upheld the previous ruling delivered by the state election petitions tribunal, headed by Justice K.A. Orjiakor.

Orjiakor had declared Natasha the winner while declaring that the scores recorded for Ohere in Ajaokuta Local Government Area were inflated.

The judge also revealed that Natasha’s scores were reduced in three units in order to confer victory on Ohere.

In her response to the latest ruling, Natasha said, “We won the appeal. Joy amidst tears; thank you, Kogi Central. This is us together.”
