Police respond to abduction of travelers in Ondo

The Ondo command of the Nigeria Police Force has responded to the kidnapping incident that took place at Akunnu area, in Akoko North Local Government Area of the state.

The assailants had killed the driver of the 18-seater commercial passenger bus, kidnapped all but one of the passengers. The only person spared is a little girl who was seen in a viral video on social media at the weekend.

Funmi Odunlami, who speaks for the police, said they  confirmed the incident.

She said that the police have “ordered the deployment of special squads to Akunnu Akoko area of the state to rescue the victims and arrest their abductors.

“The Area Commander and his team with the support of the military and local security moved into the affected area for possible rescue immediately the incident occurred,” she said.
