11 people die in road crash, 22 others injured
A road crash involving a truck conveying produce has claimed no fewer than 11 lives, while 22 other people were injured. The incident happened in the Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Friday.
Nafiu Abubakar, spokesperson for Kebbi State Police Command, said that the accident happened at around 6 a.m.
He said, “On receipt of the report, a team of policemen from Shanga Division mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victims to General Hospital Shanga, for treatment, where a medical doctor confirmed 11 dead, while the remaining victims are responding to treatment.
“Given the above, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Chris Aimionowane, prayed for the souls of the departed to have an eternal rest”
The CP urged transport unions and other road users to take safety measures, maintain speed limits, and shun overloading and reckless driving.
