Wike’s ally leads cause in favour APC HoR control

Rivers lawmaker-elect Kingsley Chinda is leading a coalition backing the ruling party’s move to install the next leadership of the House of Representatives.

The coalition, unveiled on Thursday and comprising 283 elected lawmakers, unveiled itself at a press conference, held on Thursday.

Led by Chinda (PDP/Rivers) and Usman Kumo (APC/Gombe), the group said it is committed to respecting the majority APC zoning arrangement for the next leaders of the lower chamber.

The move is apparently a counter to another group, formed by the opposition to prevent the APC from seizing control of the yet-to-be inaugurated legislature.

TheCornet reports that Chinda’s political godfather, Rivers governor Nyesom Wike, has declared to support the APC in the house leadership race.  Wike has also declared his support for the incumbent deputy speaker Hon. Idris Wase.
