Security agents raid Abuja of terrorists

Nigeria has reacted to the threat of a likely terrorist invasion of the nation’s capital, Abuja, with the arrest of five leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and 30 fighters.

There are warnings the terrorists might strike in other parts of the country, such as Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Kogi, Abia, Plateau, Taraba, among other places.

The joint operation involving the Department of State Security (DSS), National Intelligence Agency, and other security agencies, led to the dismantling of terrorists cells located in different parts of the federal capital.

The law enforcement raided satellite towns within Abuja, including Maraba. The threat level heightened on Thursday as few business premises, including Jabi Lake Mall, were shut to patrons.

TheCornet reports that the United States and the United Kingdom recently advised their citizens on the likely terrorist attack.

The two western countries urged their citizens to be watchful of their movement and to avoid non-essential travels.

But, the DSS make light of the threat following the warning while urging citizens to remain calm.
