The case of the 59-years old vice president comes after US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi similarly tested positive to the virus.

There are not many concerns for President Joe Biden’s possible infection as he has not been in close contact with Ms Harris due to their recent travel schedules.

Kristen Allen, press secretary to Ms Harris, said she will isolate and continue to work from the Vice President’s residence till full recovery.

“Today, Vice President Harris tested positive for COVID-19 on rapid and PCR tests.

“She has exhibited no symptoms, will isolate and continue to work from the vice president’s residence,” Ms Allen said in a statement.
