Man cuts off another’s palm over dog sale row

A man has cut off another’s palm after having an altercation over the sale of a dog. The incident, which happened in Dubai, had an unnamed man offering to buy a dog for his daughter. Getting to the seller, he was told the dog was no longer for sale.

Piqued, the willing buyer got into an argument with the dog seller who brought out a knife to attack him. The dog buyer then ran to his car to fetch a sword with which he severed the victim’s palm.

According to Gulf News, the police were alerted to the incident and the suspect was arrested in his house.

He was subsequently arraigned before the Dubai Court of First Instance. The defendant admitted to attacking the victim and amputating his palm, claiming that he did so in self-defence.

According to police records, the defendant had a history of physical assaults as had previously attacked a person with knives and swords back in 2014.

The trial judge found the defendant guilty, sentencing him to seven years imprisonment but subject to appeal within 15 days.
