Soludo’s appointee faces murder accusation, governor reacts

Mbazulike Iloka , an appointee of Anambra state Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has been suspended from office following the accusation he might have caused his wife’s death.

Iloka is the Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area in Anambra.

An account has it that the wife, Chidiebere, slumped after serving her husband’s food.

But, those who accuse Iloka of being a wife beater suspect he might have assaulted her. Alleged marks on Chidiebere’s body fueled the suspicion her death might be a result of domestic violence.

Suspending Iloka, Tony Nwabunwanne, the state commissioner for local government, chieftaincy and community affairs, said the decision was to prevent him from interfering with the investigation of the death.

The letter also indicated public outrage against Iloka.

“While you are presumed innocent until the completion of investigations, it has become imperative that you step aside to allow unfettered investigation and justice,” the suspension letter stated.
