Ohaneze urges mass turnout of voters for Imo Guber poll

Chief Emmanuel Iwuayanwu, president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has urged voters to ignore a wrongful directive to stay indoors on election day. Imo, Beyelsa, and Kogi states are having off-cycle governorship elections on Saturday, November 11.

According to Iwuanyanwu, residents shunning the poll means that “there will be no election in Imo state and that will create chaos.”

“I am, therefore, with every sense of responsibility and love, appealing to the leader of this group to rescind his decision to order a sit-at-home,” the business tycoon said.

The Igjo leader also debunked a claim that Imo Governor Hope Uzodima net with President Bola Tinubu to dissuade him from releasing separationist leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Iwuayanwu said he “ investigated” and ” found it (the claim) to be false and malicious in its entirety.”

“Uzodimma never held such a meeting with President Tinubu. To the contrary, I have held discussions with Uzodimma and the other four governors of the South-East, and they all were firmly and irrevocably committed to the release of Nnamdi Kalu from incarceration,” he added.

He added that speakers of state houses of assembly, members of the National Assembly, the state governors and select leaders from the South-East “unanimously agreed that Ohanaeze should work towards the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu.”

The Ohaneze leader said he had written to President Tinubu, seeking his audience on Kanu’s matter.
