Police arrest 51 “Eiye” confraternity members

The police in Delta state have arrested 51 members of a secret society, called the Eiye confraternity.

The state police command said it has been on the lookout for the cult members, owing to incessant violence breakouts in Ogwashi-uku recently.

The police said the suspects, who were reportedly celebrating the founding of the society, would be charged to court.

TheCornet gathered the confraternity came into being on June 15, 1963, which the members reportedly commemorate annually.

However, secret societies or membership of such are an illegality under the Nigerian law.
