Police arrest five for cultism, three for gun making

The police in Edo and Benue States have reported the arrest of some suspects. In Edo, five people were apprehended for cultism. They are

Emeka Eke, Chizoba Okolie, Samson Ochonobor, Friday Agbebayo, and Julius Eguasa.

The police said the suspects, who engaged in a public fight at the Ramat Park, Benin before their arrest, belong to the Eiye Confraternity.

The failure of one of the cult members to pay his mandatory monthly dues to the confraternity reportedly caused the public disturbance.

In a similar incident, the police in Benue said that one Precious Ebuka Chukwu, was arrested for manufacturing guns in the Agu community of Vandekiya LGA of the state.

Benue Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, stated that “police detectives were deployed to gather intelligence and arrest the suspects involved on 7/2/2024.”

The suspect hails from Onitsha, in Anambra State, and three locally made berretta pistols were recovered from him during his arrest.

“The suspect led the team to the hideout of his regular suppliers; one Tyav Wuese ‘m’ and Tyav Terkuma ‘m’ blacksmiths of Adikpo, Kwande LGA who specialise in fabricating guns. The two manufacturers were also arrested.  Suspects will soon be charged to court,” Adesina added.
