Kidnappers demand ransom in advance marked man
ÂTwo men were arrested in Katsina State after they demanded ransom in advance from their marked victim, the police said.
They are Usman Abubakar, 22, and Yusuf Ibrahim, 30.
Superintendent Gambo Isah, spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, stated this during a parade of the suspects and others arrested for various offences.
He said the suspects had asked one Abdulbasiru Salisu, of Shema Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area, to deposit the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty thousand Naira into an account or risk being kidnapped.
Both suspects, Isah said, confessed to the crime and asked to be forgiven.
Also paraded were 14 suspects, among whom was a receiver of stolen items. The stolen items are 4 iron doors, some beverages, one mattress, 20 sheep, 25 bags of pepper and one generator, amongst others
The police also announced the arrest of four burglars who were accused of terrorizing Katsina and its environs.
The burglars are aged between 18 and 23 and were arrested in their hideout. Items said to have been recovered from them included iron, dagger, machete, hammer, and knives.
Other suspects were said to have been arrested for trafficking Cannabis Sativa.
The police said all the suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of investigation.
