Six-month-old baby, five others killed, burnt

The grisly killing and burning of four members of a family, including a six-month-old, has seen the police vowing to crack the crime and arrest those behind the gory incident.

The slain are the father, mother, their daughter-in-law and her infant. Their assailants reportedly slit their throats before dragging their lifeless corpses to the courtyard, where he set them ablaze.

Neighbors who saw smoke billowing from the house to the sky alerted the police.

After arriving at the house, the police put out the fire and at the same time vacuumed the charred remains of the family from the crime scene.

Police preliminary investigation showed that a relative of the victims was involved in the murder.

The law enforcement said they believed the killer relative and his accomplices committed the act due to personal enemity for the slain persons.

The incident happened in Jodhupur, said to be the second largest city in the state of Rajasthan, India.

According to the police, the victims’ names are Poonaram (55), his wife Bhanwari (50), and their daughter-in-law Dhapu (23).

“A forensic team is present at the crime scene and top district authorities …  are monitoring the situation,” INDY, a local newspaper reported.
