Students’ body wants DStv, GOtv hike reversed

Nigerian foremost students’ body, the National Association of Nigerian Students, (South-west Zone), has asked MultiChoice Nigeria to reverse the price hike of its satellite and terrestrial pay-tv services – DStv and GOtv.

NANS gave the MultiChoice seven days to rescind its price raise.

In a joint press released signed off by the body, NANS accused the company of extortion and inflicting hardship on its Nigerian customers. It also demands that the pay-tv company should set its tariff on a “pay as you view” model.

NANS said, “This is the time to call on National Broadcasting Commission to go back to the Commission’s Act to regulate the ownership, activities and operations of Direct Broadcast Satellite Service Providers. DSTV … has also made a lot of profit with over 25 million subscribers, which is the largest market for its operations.”
