Sanwo-Olu says Lagos on path to becoming Africa’s Sillicon Valley
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said the state is on the path to becoming Africa’s Sillicon Valley, following the citing of an $100million Microsoft Corporation in Ikoyi.
Sillicon Valley, located in San Francisco, is the hub of tech startups and home to many American technology companies.
“The aim of this centre, which is to facilitate the creation of tech solutions that will solve both African and global problems, will nurture, and create employment opportunities for our youths while also working with them to provide software engineering solutions to Africa and the world,” he said.
Similarly, Sanwo-Olu lauded the citing of the newly commissioned Dangote Fertilizer company at the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
He avowed that both companies have given a “major boost” to his government’s “vision of a Greater Lagos and a better society for our teeming youths through partnerships and investments”.
“Alhaji Aliko Dangote of the Dangote Group, and Bill Gates of Microsoft Corporation, are exemplary men who believe in, and keyed into our plans of making Lagos a mega city, and its youths a reference point for innovation, creativity and resilience,” the governor said.
