Police give details on killer Naval ratings, stalker, others

The police in Lagos on Wednesday paraded two naval ratings, namely Nnamani Anointing and Onyekachi Egwin. They ratings are said to have killed an assistant superintendent of police Abiona Hezekiah at a traffic stop at the Satellite town area of the state.

Abiodun Alabi, the commissioner of police, said that the ratings stabbed Hezekiah to death following a disagreement that ensued after between them.

“The suspects stabbed three other civilians in their bid to escape. The stabbed persons are responding to treatment. The command is currently working with the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Ministry of Justice, Alausa, Ikeja, to ensure that justice prevails,” he said.

The police commissioner also paraded one Smart Richard for stalking his victims via the telephone number 08165270517.

Alabi said that “smart is an ex-convict who had served a five-year jail term at the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre. The suspect identified one Kingsley Richard, currently serving a jail term at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre as his associate.

“Further investigation revealed that while Smart collated telephone numbers and operated an online wallet account through which they collected their blackmail money, Richard, while still in prison, sent the threat messages and made threat calls to the collated numbers.

“The command is currently working with the Nigeria Correctional Service towards extending investigations to Kingsley Richard,” Alabi said.

Also, the CP confirmed the arrest of four suspects, Segun Adeleke, 41; Monsuru Aderogba, 27; Gbenga Sokanbi, 33; and Lukmon Akanwo, 24, for alleged carjacking.

Another suspect is Eninjah Jude, 32, who takes up driving jobs but often bolts away with his employers’ vehicles. Equally paraded is Nelson Ezugwu, 32, who stole his former boss’ vehicle using a spare key.
