15 bodies pulled out of Benue River after boat accident

A boat carrying over 100 people capsized on the Benue River on Saturday.

Many of the casualties included women and children returning from the Mayoreneyo fish market in Ardo-Kola LGA and heading to the Karim-Lamido local government area of the state.

The incident took place at about 3.30 p.m., 40 minutes after the boat took off.

The acting chairman of Taraba State’s inland water transporters, Jidda Mayoreneyo, said 15 bodies were pulled out of the water.
