NURTW hires Falana against MC Oluomo

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) says it has hired human rights crusader Femi Falana (SAN) to retrieve its national secretariat from its estranged member, Musiliu Akinsanya, (a.k.a MC Oluomo).

TheCornet reported that the union suspendedAkinsanya for insubordination and appointed, in his place, Fatai Adeshina as its caretaker committee chairman for Lagos state.

Akinsanya is now the chairman of the Lagos State Parks And Garage Committee, set up by the Lagos State Government.

In his interview with the PUNCH,Adeshina alleged that Akinsanya decided to retain the NURTW secretariat in Lagos, despite his being on suspension from the union’s activities.

Musilu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo)

“MC Oluomo said he won’t vacate the NURTW office after his suspension. He has converted the building into that of the Park Management Committee and branded it as the park management office.

“He (MC Oluomo) also hired Oodua People Congress members to man the place with a standing order that any union member found around the place should be gunned down,” he said.

Adeshina also said the NURTW has filed a case in court on the matter while faulting the decision of the Lagos State Government to proscribe the union.

“We have taken the matter to court. Femi Falani (SAN) is our lawyer. We want to recover our office.

“Aside from that, the NURTW is registered with the Federal Government through the Nigeria Labour Congress. The state has no right to ban the union.”
