  Nursing mothers lose babies in kidnappers’ den
Some kidnapped nursing mothers have lost their babies due to illness and their inability to breastfeed them while still with their abductors.
The bereaved mothers were among 17 people abducted by some assailants from Anguwar Danlele and Anguwar Bawa villages in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on October 7.
The kidnappers, who received N19 million in ransoms from relatives of the victims, reneged on their promise to release them. Rather, they demanded more money.
Shehu Randagi, a resident and youth leader, said the bandits broke the news of the infants’ deaths to the community. He stated that the villagers gave all they were able to gather to the abductors and would not be able to raise any more money.
While the women and children remained in the captivity of their assailants, the bandits returned to the affected villages on Tuesday night to abduct another 12 people.
