A bill to strip a sitting Nigerian vice president, governor and deputy of immunity from criminal prosecution has passed second reading in the House of Representatives.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Solomon Bob, is seeking an amendment to Section 308 of the Nigerian 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The bill’s focus is to “promote accountability in public office, curb corruption and eradicate impunity’ by the office holder.
