Nigeria to build 7th axial road in Lekki Lagos

The Nigerian Government says it plans to  build the 7th Actual Road in Lekki, Lagos.Â

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, said this following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with China Harbour Construction Engineering Limited, in China.

“The company will design and construct the 7th Axial Road in Lekki, Lagos, as part of our commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in physical infrastructure, ” the minister said, in his post on X (formerly, Twitter).

He added, “Upon completion, this project will stimulate an increase in investor activity, improve transportation flow, and alleviate traffic congestion.”

TheCornet reports that the Chinese company is building the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) and has the largest shareholding of 52.50 per cent, while another company, Tolaram holds 22.50 percent.

The Lagos state government, and the Nigerian Port Authority have 20 percent and 5 percent shareholding of the LFTZ respectively.Â

The Lekki axis of Lagos state is expected to see an infrastructure upgrade, given the ongoing construction of the LFTZ, which at the same time hosts  zone the multi-billion dollar Dangote refinery.Â
