Lekki FTZ realization of Tinubu’s vision, says Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says he is happy to see former governor Bola Tinubu’s vision about the Lekki Free Trade Zone, FTZ, come to pass.

He said this during the commissioning of the Dangote Fertilizer Company, located in the FTZ. President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the project that also had Tinubu attending the ceremony.

Sanwo-Olu said: “Let me state here that the idea of having a Lekki Free Trade Zone was conceived by our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I was with him in 2003/2004 when we took a trip to China and we walked the tightrope around creating the Free Trade Zone.

“Today we are reaping one of the rewards of the zone – the largest fertilizer plant in Africa that was commissioned today.

“I congratulate Aliko Dangote and the entire staff and management of Dangote Group for this audacious project that will help transform our economy and improve lives.”

The fertilizer company is expected to produce “over 3million tonnes of urea fertilizer per annum”.

The plant is touted to be Africa’s largest granulated fertilizer complex.

Other dignitaries at the event were President of Senate, Ahmed Lawan; Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Governors Dapo Abiodun, Kayode Fayemi of Ogun and Ekiti States; Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, among others.
