Tinubu expresses belief in youths leading Nigeria’s digital transformation
Nigeria’s vice president Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the International Development Association event, IDA, held in Nairobi, Kenya, has expressed the hope that the country’s would lead it to becoming a digital powerhouse.
Shettima said the country is ambitious to become the hub for outsourcing of talents in the global digital and creative economy.
TheCornet reports that the IDA replenishment 21 is a platform for donors to meet African leaders and civil society organisations every three years to replenish IDA resources and review policy frameworks based on country needs and current challenges.
Shettima told the guests that President Tinubu “remained steadfast in fulfilling his promise to end the reign of economic saboteurs who have long exploited and hindered the progress of our nation.”
He echoed to the leaders that Nigeria had “escaped the phase of sabotage.”
“Being a young country with a median age of about 18, our interventions in the digital economy have been so extensive that we are no longer boasting of having the most unicorns, but preparing to serve as a global hub for outsourcing talents,” the VP said.
He also mentioned to the leaders the administration’s efforts to curb currency manipulation, promote digital transformation, and to prioritise climate resilience, and becoming an attractive destination for carbon market investments.
