Lagos entrepreneur Laolu Martins allegedly commits suicide

Laolu Martins, an entrepreneur and investment banking expert, has died, with many calling his death a suicide. Another account said he slipped and suffered a head injury, leading to his death.

Martins co-founded a restaurant chain, Bukka Hut, and he was its executive director until the shocking incident.

He reportedly took his own life inside his Lekki, Lagos home in the early hours of Tuesday. Martin, as it is being alleged, succumbed to depression.

He was a Chartered accountant and stockbroker, with 12 years of experience. Martins was an investment banker, who cut his professional teeth with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999.

He joined Investment Banking & Trust Company Plc, now, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and held different portfolios until his exit in 2005. Leaving IBTC, Martins pitched his tent with Shell Nig. CPFA Ltd and rose to become its Head, Investments till 2008, when he left to join Nigeria International Security Limited, NISL.
